Psychology, meet YouTube.

I did my Psychology research last semester on YouTube and Identity Development, and a lot of people were asking about my results. Since I was already giving a presentation on my project, I figured that I would bring my camera along and fill you guys in! If you want to read what’s on the poster and see the figures up close, I posted an abbreviated version of the paper here: www.laurenfairweather.com I know that I normally don’t just talk on this channel, and this video is way longer than I like to keep my videos, but hopefully you’ll find this interesting since it’s about you guys. Thanks for your time! Also, I’m sorry if it’s hard to hear me at some points. I filmed it from a few different angles and tried to get all of the important points covered. Lots of other kids were giving presentations at the same time, so it got pretty noisy. For summer tour dates and information on my new CD, www.laurenfairweather.com

This is a neat video, Lauren! I am a pyschology major (who was a psych/theatre double major but one had to go and since theatre isn’t ‘practical’…Sucks to give up the one you love!)

Anyway– your presentation was neat. I am doing my senior applied project in April and was thinking about doing something similar– I think I have some ideas now, thanks!

@NowNow25 Yeah, I spent the first half of the semester writing a ridiculously long paper, way longer than required because I got super into it, and the second half of the semester destroying it so it was small enough to fit on the poster. The original paper was probably long enough to wallpaper that room if all I did was paste the original pages next to each other. I did have a lot of people stopping and looking at the poster, and I abbreviated verbally even further for them. Thanks though! :)

  10. NowNow25 says:

@devilishlypure Good job! Though, as some who has presented at numerous science conferences, included Cog Sci 2009, iBleedAdventure is giving you a good suggestion. A poster should not be the pages of an academic paper pasted next to each other. You are more likely to get the walking by academics if you make it easy on them. Less words. Anywho, keep at it.

To put your presentation up to Youtube was an amazing idea! It suits the project so well. x)
I found this so awesome that you are taking interest in that particular aspect of Youtube, and that you are taking things further by doing a whole report/presentation thing!
There is so much more to Youtube than videos about cats! Youtube belongs to Nerdfighters.

@Plottoberry I have a bachelor’s in Psychology, and did two research projects on YouTube for my senior thesis. My parents wouldn’t let me do music in college.

You can read an abbreviated version of the article through the link in the video description!

  18. Plottoberry says:

I’m a little confused. Are you a Psychology major? Are you doing a Research Master in Psychology? I thought you did a study that was music-related… I’m a Psychology major, I love study and I’d like to do a master in Research. (:

Can I read the article somewhere?

is Biblical Christian psychology a profession ?

  27. insanewarlock666 says:

man is more than matter? for example what? supernatural slave of god? yeah! god loves slaves! he loves tyranny! doesn’t he?

  28. zamingold says:

Yeah go talk to an Atheist psychologist because unlike most rational and positive people Atheists hold the unusual belief that the world originated in a vacuum means nothing and is going nowhere..a belief they can’t prove so it is based on “faith” also! That’s exactly who ya want to talk to when you have a problem, ice it wgordon n pick up a book by CS Lewis while you’re at it you may learn something to help your soul

  29. wgordon8 says:

Christian Psychology a contradiction in terms.

  30. Leiflton says:

yes, they do not account for all variables, ie sin etc.

and therefore, since they do not acknowledge the actual problem, they will never be able to find the solution.
